Lighting is used effectively in this shot of the real world kitchen to make it feel dull, depressing and lonely. This is achieved by using a cold light through the cloudy window. The directer has chosen this lighting to reminds us that coralines real world is boring and lifeless compared to the other world behind the door.

In the other kitchen we see more things and a sense of delight, security and welcoming. Lighting is used to create this through the use of a yellow/orange warm light from the light bulb above the table. the director has done this to highlight the positive relationship between coraline and her other parents. Whilst her real parents ignore her, the other parents acknowledge and want to spend time with her. this is re-enforced by the contrasting use of cold and white light in Coraline real world.

The  Ptolemaic  Dynasty was  the last dynasty  of Ancient Egypt. Although  Ptolemy I and later rulers were  Greek, they took on the religion and  many traditions of Ancient Egypt. At the  same time, they introduced many aspects of  Greek culture into the Egyptian way of life.

The reign of Cleopatra VII of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt began with the death of her father, the ruling pharaoh Ptolemy XII Auletes, by March 51 BC. It ended with her death on 10 or 12 August 30 BC.

Ptolemy XII Auletes, ruling pharaoh of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt, designated in his will that his daughter Cleopatra VII should reign alongside her brother Ptolemy XIII as co-rulers in the moment of his death.

They thought they were gods and they would punish them severely

Born circa 69 B.C., Cleopatra VII was part of the Macedonian dynasty that took over rule of Egypt in the late 4th century B.C. During her reign, she forged political alliances and became romantically involved with Roman military leaders Julius Caesar and Mark Antony, until her death in 30 B.C

.

Following the war, Cleopatra remarried to her younger brother Ptolemy XIV, but she is believed to have had him murdered in a bid to make her son her co-ruler. In 41 B.C., she also engineered the execution of her sister, Arsinoe, who she considered a rival to throne.

The early life of Cleopatra VII (r. 51 – 10 or 12 August 30 BC) of Ptolemaic Egypt began with her birth in early 69 BC to reigning pharaoh Ptolemy XII Auletes and an unknown mother, and lasted until her accession to the throne by March 51 BC.
