Chapter 1

1. What are the advantages and disadvantages of first person narration?

    You can see what is happening to the main character.

    You don't know what's happening to the other characters. 

2. Why do you think Ellie needs to tell the story in chronological order? Because otherwise we wouldn't know what's going on.
3. Pick one interesting word from the chapter, find its meaning, and explain why it is interesting. Alternative: one of two or more available possibilities.
4. John Marsden foreshadows several events and characters in this chapter. Make three predictions based on the evidence in the text about what may occur later in the story. Something bad is going to happen “Hell is what's on the other side of tailors,”
5. What kind of story do you think Ellie is going to tell? Uses evidence from the text to support your answers. Adventure because “it began when corrie and i said we wanted to go bush, go feral for a few days over the Christmas holidays.”
6. What set of skills do these characters have that convince their parents that they can ‘go bush’ independently. Find examples for three characters. 

Chapter 2

1. How did the group of teenagers ascend Tailors Stitch? Satan's Steps
2. What are the two special events happening the day after the teenagers leave for the bush? The mackenzie and the show.
3. How many days were they planning on staying? How much food do you think is reasonable to bring, split between 7 teenagers? 5 days each
4. Who is the Hermit and what is he supposed to have done?he's a Murderer who lives in “hell”
5. Do you think the Hermit will be significant to this story? Why/Why not? Yes he built a bridge
6. Is their decent down Satan’s Steps into Hell dangerous? Discuss what are the dangers, how could they have made it safer, what would you have done? Stay home or bring rope.
7. Predict what the bridge signifies someone lives or lived there.

Metaphors and Similes

What is a simile

A simile is a figure of speech. Eg  the room was as cold as ice

What is a metaphor

A metaphor is a figure of speech that describes two things that are different but something in common.
Eg the snow is a white blanket.

Slam Poetry

I don't have a favorite performance

But i like this one because it made me laugh and its gays so yeah and Michaela showed it to me.
