health work 8/12/20

In Health we were set a task that required us to find out the opinions of people and how they feel about Gender issues in sport for Transgender people. I work in a group with Thomas.

We had 5 BIG questions we had to answer which were:
Why would someone not be strongly for or against this issue/topic?
What are the positive and negative outcomes?
Who can/can’t...
How does it begin?
When and how did this issue come about?
How could this be improved?.

We answered all of them in the first side show.

For our creative project we made 10 memes about trans gender issues.

I think we did very well because we put lots of work in to make it nice.

(Note: This is just our opinions we mean no disrespect and please dont be mean in the comments.)

English

In English we are learning to write Essays and practicing writing.

This is what i have.

The incident of Amari stealing the scroll helped me to understand the important idea of sadness because it showed me when her friend Binta died. We see this in the text when Binta is killed “One moment Binta stands. In the next, fathers sword plunges through her chest”. This means that King Saran, Amaris' father, killed Binta.

Rube Goldberg

We started making a machine in group and then we all put are work together it didn't work as well as we thought it would as the marble is to fast but this was my group.

A Rude Goldberg machine is one of those thing where the ball will hit things and go down a series of things that triger an reactions like this:

Chapter 3 – Amari English

Chapter 3 – Amari
“I am afraid not, Your Highness. I saw it with my own eyes. Their magic was weak, but it was there.”
Skies…
What does this mean for us? What shall happen to the monarchy? Are the maji already planning an attack? Will we have any chance of fighting back?
Memories of Father before the Raid play in my head, a paranoid man with grinding teeth and forever graying hair. The man who forced Inan and me into the palace cellar, placing swords in our hands though we were far too young and weak to lift them.
The maji will come for you, he warned. The same words every time he forced us to spar. When they do, you must be prepared.
A message I take from this scene is that the maji are feared by royalty and royalty scare diviners. and that she doesn't want a war.

(I wasn't here yesterday so i dont know what happened in Chapter 2 thats why i dont have one for Chapter 2.)

Science Electricity

In the holidays I used a TV this is how it uses electricity:

In A New TV Each tiny spot of light that makes up the picture is a little light bulb. Rows and columns of these tiny LED’s are scanned one after another. This is a very efficient TV, no heat is generated to make a beam of electrons or powerful magnets for direction like an old TV.

science

In science we used fire to test for the gases produced when you put metals in acids and bases .

The first test was for hydrogen using the pop test, a burning splint inserted into a test tube full of hydrogen to produce a pop sound. By adding a strip of magnesium to a test tube containing acid and holding a bigger boiling tube over top you can collect hydrogen to pop.

The second test was for oxygen, adding magnesium dioxide to hydrogen peroxide, a base, created oxygen. The oxygen was tested for by placing a recently blown out splint in the test tube to see if it would relight.

The third and final test was for carbon dioxide, Adding together an acid and a metal carbonate will produce carbon dioxide, which can be tested by inserting a burning splint. If the splint goes out you have carbon dioxide, it smothers flames.

Making Copper Sulfate Crystals

Crystals
In science yesterday we made copper sulfate crystals. Here is the method we used

1. Add 20 ml of sulfuric acid, into a 100 ml beaker. heat the acid to 70o c. Turn off the Bunsen burner
2. once heated, use a spatula to add pee-size portions of copper oxide. to the beaker. stir for 30 seconds.
3. repeat step two, till no more will devolve. allow beaker to cool
4. fold the filter paper and place it into the funnel. place the funnel into the second beaker.
5. make sure the beaker is cool enough to hold the top. the contents should still be hot.
6. gently swirl the contents of the beaker to mix, and then poor into the filter paper in the funnel. allow to filter though
7. rinse your beaker you used to heat up the mixture previously, and place it back on tripod filled with 50-60 ml of water
8. place the evaporating basin on top of the beaker and carefully poor some solution from the beaker into the basin.
9. gently heat the beaker until the solution is reduced by half.
10. leave the evaporating basin to cool. once cool, move to the evaporating basin to a warm place where it will not be disturbed. observe for the next few days, blue copper sulfate should form

Sci oil of wintergreen

In sci we attempted to make to make "Oil of Wintergreen" and ...... failed anyway

To start with, we added 5 ml of methanol in to a boiling tube, and added 1 ml of salicylic acid. We heated 250ish ml of water over a bunsen burner,  until it was 70ish degrees. We added 3 drops of Sulfuric acid before putting the boiling tube in to the water. We let the Methanol boil off, and we got a  brown liquid, not the crystals we wanted.

It instead of make little crystals we made a brown liquid like thing.

It should have looked like small little crystals.

Maybe next time we should add more or less of the ingredients.

The little fox story

For English we had to write your own creative writing story so this is my story i hope you like it. Story circle at the bottom

The Little Fox
Once there was a little fox.  The little fox said “I’m hungry Father, may I go get some food from the
nearby woods?”  The Father replied “of course my son but be careful because it's dangerous.”  The little
fox nodded his head and smiled, “don’t worry Father I will be home by noon.”

The little fox ran out of the burrow into the nearby woods to search for something to eat.  In the woods
he spotted a mouse.  “Hello” said the little fox, but the mouse only squeaked and ran away.  The little fox
continued to search the woods. He soon found a bird.  “Hello” said the fox, but the bird only flew away.
The little fox returned home by noon as promised.

“Father, why don't the other animals like me?”, said the little fox. “Oh son, our kind has hunted their kind
for many years”, “but Father I don’t want to hurt them I only want to be friends,'' replied the little fox.
“Yes I know son, but things like this take time.”  “Yes Father.”  “Let’s go to bed,” said the Father fox.

The next morning the little fox said “Father may I go out to the nearby woods?” “Yes, but be home early,
I am making my famous apple pie.”  “I will Father, thank you,” and the little fox ran out the burrow.

The little fox saw a grey mouse.  “Help, help, somebody help me” yelled the grey mouse. The little fox
ran to the pond. “Please can anyone help, a poor mouse is being attacked by a cat.”  A bird said “Sure,
as if I would believe you - you’re a fox.” “No please help, she could be hurt'' said the little fox but the bird
only flew away. The little fox ran to the mouse and yelled “put her down.” ” No get your own food” hissed
the cat. The little fox ran at the mean cat and pushed it up to the edge of the cliff.  The little fox picked up
the mouse, “thank you” said the mouse. “Mr Cat, please don't be mean to others,'' said the little fox.
“Fine I'll try,” said the cat . As he slipped and fell over the edge of the cliff “Nooo!” said the cat. The fox
caught him just in time and pulled him up.

“Are you ok Mr Cat,” asked the little fox. “I am now, thank you,'' replied the cat.  “Would you like to come
to my house?” the little fox said. “My Father is making apple pie.”  “I’d love to” said the mouse,” ''why
not?” said the cat.

“Father, I'm home! I sure hope you made a lot of apple pie.”  “Why is that son?” “Because we have
guests,'' said the little fox.  But at that moment he heard a sound at the entrance of the burrow.  “I heard
you saved a mouse,'' said the bird. “I’m sorry I didn’t believe you little fox.”  “It’s okay, do you want to
come in for some apple pie?”  The little bird nodded her head as she came inside, and then they all ate
apple pie together as new friends.

The end.

english all tasks

Chapter 1
  1. What are the advantages and disadvantages of first person narration?
You can see what is happening to the main character.
You don't know what's happening to the other characters.
  1. Why do you think Ellie needs to tell the story in chronological order? Because otherwise we wouldn't know what's going on.
  2. Pick one interesting word from the chapter, find its meaning, and explain why it is interesting. Alternative: one of two or more available possibilities.
  3. John Marsden foreshadows several events and characters in this chapter. Make three predictions based on the evidence in the text about what may occur later in the story. Something bad is going to happen “Hell is what's on the other side of tailors,”
  4. What kind of story do you think Ellie is going to tell? Uses evidence from the text to support your answers. Adventure because “it began when corrie and i said we wanted to go bush, go feral for a few days over the Christmas holidays.”
  5. What set of skills do these characters have that convince their parents that they can ‘go bush’ independently. Find examples for three characters.

Chapter 2

  1. How did the group of teenagers ascend Tailors Stitch? Satan's Steps
  2. What are the two special events happening the day after the teenagers leave for the bush? The mackenzie and the show.
  3. How many days were they planning on staying? How much food do you think is reasonable to bring, split between 7 teenagers? 5 days each
  4. Who is the Hermit and what is he supposed to have done?he's a Murderer who lives in “hell”
  5. Do you think the Hermit will be significant to this story? Why/Why not? Yes he built a bridge
  6. Is their decent down Satan’s Steps into Hell dangerous? Discuss what are the dangers, how could they have made it safer, what would you have done? Stay home or bring rope.
  7. Predict what the bridge signifies someone lives or lived there.

Metaphors and Similes
What is a simile
A simile is a figure of speech. Eg  the room was as cold as ice

What is a metaphor
A metaphor is a figure of speech that describes two things that are different but something in common.
Eg the snow is a white blanket.

Slam Poetry
I don't have a favorite performance
But i like this one because it made me laugh and its gays so yeah and Michaela showed it to me.

Haikus

My cat is moody
My cat is a crazy cat
My cat is scary

I have a cute dog
He is a very big dog
His name is Baxter

how to donate plasma and what it is

Donating plasma is similar to giving blood. A needle is placed into a vein in your arm. Plasma is collected through a process call plasmapheresis and is conducted in cycles that may take up to an hour. Whole blood is drawn.

Link
https://www.donatingplasma.org/donation/donor-faq

What is Plasma
Blood plasma is a yellowish liquid component of blood that holds the blood cells in whole blood in suspension. It is the liquid part of the blood that carries cells and proteins throughout the body. It makes up about 55% of the body's total blood volume. It is the intravascular fluid part of extracellular fluid.

What is the difference between blood and plasma
Blood is the main bodily fluid and responsible for transporting important nutrients, oxygen, carbon dioxide and waste products to and away from the cells. Plasma is the yellow liquid component of blood and constitutes 55% of the total blood volume. Plasma is liquid component of blood.

What is plasma in blood made of?
Plasma is the liquid component of blood, in which the red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets are suspended. It constitutes more than half of the blood's volume and consists mostly of water that contains dissolved salts (electrolytes) and proteins. The major protein in plasma is albumin.

What does plasma do in the blood?
Plasma carries water, salts and enzymes. The main role of plasma is to take nutrients, hormones, and proteins to the parts of the body that need it. Cells also put their waste products into the plasma.

i learn all this from google and from class.
